Un jour, Jésus se trouvait sur le bord du lac de Génésareth ; la foule se pressait autour de lui pour écouter la parole de Dieu.
Il vit deux barques amarrées au bord du lac ; les pêcheurs en étaient descendus et lavaient leurs filets.
Jésus monta dans une des barques, qui appartenait à Simon, et lui demanda de s’éloigner un peu du rivage. Puis il s’assit et, de la barque, il enseignait la foule.
Quand il eut fini de parler, il dit à Simon : « Avance au large, et jetez les filets pour prendre du poisson. »
Simon lui répondit : « Maître, nous avons peiné toute la nuit sans rien prendre ; mais, sur ton ordre, je vais jeter les filets. »
Ils le firent, et ils prirent une telle quantité de poissons que leurs filets se déchiraient.
Ils firent signe à leurs compagnons de l’autre barque de venir les aider. Ceux-ci vinrent, et ils remplirent les deux barques, à tel point qu’elles enfonçaient.
A cette vue, Simon-Pierre tomba aux pieds de Jésus, en disant : « Seigneur, éloigne-toi de moi, car je suis un homme pécheur. »
L’effroi, en effet, l’avait saisi, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui, devant la quantité de poissons qu’ils avaient prise ;
et de même Jacques et Jean, fils de Zébédée, ses compagnons. Jésus dit à Simon : « Sois sans crainte, désormais ce sont des hommes que tu prendras. »
Alors ils ramenèrent les barques au rivage et, laissant tout, ils le suivirent.
Simon Pierre, a été secoué par cette pêche miraculeuse. Et oui, lui-même était au départ, sans conviction et c’était pour plaire à Jésus, qu il jeta les filets. Devant l’ampleur de cette prise, la puissance du Dieu Seigneur se manifesta…et Simon Pierre allait encore une fois de plus se persuader que c’est bien le messie venu sauver Israël. Dieu est présent devant lui. Il tomba aux pieds de Jésus en prosternation.
La première leçon :
Comme Simon Pierre devant la manifestation de la puissance du Seigneur, je dois reconnaître ma modeste condition de pécheur. « Seigneur, éloigne-toi de moi, car je suis un homme pécheur. »
Pratiquer cette crainte de Dieu serait il être en émerveillement devant la toute puissance de Dieu ? Sans toi je ne suis qu’un rien ! Et pourtant, par amour Tu m’a considéré comme frère dans l’humanité, par ton incarnation et ta vie modèle Tu nous as ouvert la voie. Je n’ai pas le droit de refuser Ton amour gratuit. Main tendue, et dans Ta miséricorde infinie Tu nous sauveras.
La seconde leçon :
Simon et ses frères, une fois les barques au rivage, ils laissent tout pour suivirent Jésus. Ils ont trouvé l’essentiel. Tout le reste devient superflu…les barques et filets … les tonnes de poissons pris… Comme Simon et ses frères faire du Seigneur mon essentiel, mon unique raison de vivre…laissant tout pour Le suivre..Je m’abandonne à Toi en toute confiance….
Living in our dear multi-cultural island, I feel compel to wish to my blog readers, especially those to whom this auspicious day is meaningful a Happy Divali. “The celebration of the victory of light over darkness” has always been the general theme of Diwali, I have always been taught. As I understood, unlike other nations in India, the people make no distinction between a religious celebration and a cultural feast.
To enrich my cultural knowledge, I have ever since my youth always sought to understand the celebrations of my fellow Mauritians. Today, is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of meaning Diwali or Deepavali as expressed by Indians of southern states, Tamil Nadu and others.
“The Festival signifies the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, justice over injustice and intelligence over ignorance. The goddess worshipped at Divali is Mother Lakshmi or Lakshmi Mata. Lakshmi Mata is the goddess of light, wealth and beauty and is also associated with prosperity, luck, riches, abundance, financial well being, and generosity.”

The Festival of Lights is for All
Why do we celebrate Diwali? It’s not just the festive mood in the air that makes you happy, or just that it’s a good time to enjoy before the advent of winter. There are 10 mythical and historical reasons why Diwali is a great time to celebrate. And there are good reasons not just for Hindus but also for all others to celebrate this great Festival of Lights.
1.Goddess Lakshmi’s Birthday: The Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi incarnated on the new moon day (amaavasyaa) of the Kartik month during the churning of the ocean (samudra-manthan), hence the association of Diwali with Lakshmi.
2. Vishnu Rescued Lakshmi: On this very day (Diwali day), Lord Vishnu in his fifth incarnation as Vaman-avtaara rescued Lakshmi from the prison of King Bali and this is another reason of worshipping Ma Larkshmi on Diwali.
3. Krishna Killed Narakaasur: On the day preceding Diwali, Lord Krishna killed the demon king Narakaasur and rescued 16,000 women from his captivity. The celebration of this freedom went on for two days including the Diwali day as a victory festival.
4. The Return of the Pandavas: According to the great epic ‘Mahabharata’, it was ‘Kartik Amavashya’ when the Pandavas appeared from their 12 years of banishment as a result of their defeat in the hands of the Kauravas at the game of dice (gambling). The subjects who loved the Pandavas celebrated the day by lighting the earthen lamps.
5. The Victory of Rama: According to the epic ‘Ramayana’, it was the new moon day of Kartik when Lord Ram, Ma Sita and Lakshman returned to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravana and conquering Lanka. The citizens of Ayodhya decorated the entire city with the earthen lamps and illuminated it like never before.
6. Coronation of Vikramaditya: One of the greatest Hindu King Vikramaditya was coroneted on the Diwali day, hence Diwali became a historical event as well.
7. Special Day for the Arya Samaj: It was the new moon day of Kartik (Diwali day) when Maharshi Dayananda, one of the greatest reformers of Hinduism and the founder of Arya Samaj attained his nirvana.
8. Special Day for the Jains: Mahavir Tirthankar, considered to be the founder of modern Jainism also attained his nirvana on Diwali day.
9. Special Day for the Sikhs: The third Sikh Guru Amar Das institutionalized Diwali as a Red-Letter Day when all Sikhs would gather to receive the Gurus blessings. In 1577, the foundation stone of the Golden Temple at Amritsar was laid on Diwali. In 1619, the sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind, who was held by the Mughal Emperor Jahengir, was released from the Gwalior fort along with 52 kings.
10. The Pope’s Diwali Speech: In 1999, Pope John Paul II performed a special Eucharist in an Indian church where the altar was decorated with Diwali lamps, the Pope had a ‘tilak’ marked on his forehead and his speech was bristled with references to the festival of light.
What I found most interesting was his 10th reason which gives this day its universal peace dimension.The above message seems also to calls for the unity of the different factions of Hinduism: AryaSamajist, Jainism and Sikhs.
I wish that Diwali be a day where all Mauritians would look up to and work towards our common heritage, our common goals and our need for unity.A day from when on, we take the resolution to stop our differences from dividing us. A day, when we become conscious that our differences enrich our Mauritian Nation and that because we are different, together we can do far better. Diwali, the festival day of Synergy over Division!
A la messe du dimanche, le pretre dans son homelie conjugait la celebration de la fete de la sainte trinite a la marche de charite Amene to bloc au Thabor.
Comme souvent est mon cas, mon esprit vadrouillait vers d’autres lieux pendant ces envolees spirituelles et retrouve mon retour a l’eglise qu’a la fin. A moins que l’officiant puisse maintenir un interet et une curiosite de l’audience dans un discours pas trop long, il me semble que sans l’Esprit Saint et un don special de la Sainte Trinite il m’est tres difficile de tenir jusqu’au bout 20 minutes.
Aussi, je pensais que c ‘est cela ma demande et ma priere a la Trinite. Donne moi Seigneur l’interet et l’esprit de comprendre l’homelie de notre celebrant, Fais qu il soit bref et concis et il puisse ouvrir mon esprit a ton enseigement.
En moi meme je me disais :Je fete la Sainte Trinite a chaque fois que je fais le signe de la croix et dit “au nom du Pere , et du Fils et du Saint Esprit” n est ce pas.”
Par contre la proclamation du CREDO, avait hier une resonnance particuliere pour moi.Car notre cher celebrant , au lieu de la recitation du texte ” Je Crois en Dieu……”a opte pour la formule :
“Croyez vous en Dieu le Pere tout puissant qui a cree le ciel et la terre” et l assemblee repondait nous croyons.
“Croyez vous en Jesus Christ fils du Pere descendu sur terre nee de la vierge Marie……” L ‘assemblee d une seule voix repondait nous croyons.
“Croyez vous en l‘Esprit Saint qui procede du Pere et du Fils….” Nous croyons de l’assemblee resonnait plus fort dans mon etre me disant “oui ” c est la fete de La Sainte Trinite et l’enigime du meme Dieu en trois personnes est elucide. Je voyais une triangle lumineux dans un ciel bleu comme signe de La Sainte Trinite.
Une touche chinoise vient parfaire cette pensee. Le chiffre 3 n’est il pas bien le symbole de grandir. Toujours faire un choix a partir de 3 alternatives! En conflit toujours recourir a un tier. Et la regle des 3…. le logo de WAY…Et oui.
